2. Romania was one of the first 10 countries that introduced the car in circulation, which happened before the end of the 19th century. (source)

3. Romania was among the first 5 countries in the world that organized car races, after France, USA, Germany, Italy and Austria. In September 1904, the first automobile race in Romania is held on the route Bucharest – Giurgiu – Bucharest (120 km). (source)

4. Romania was the fourth European country to have a female skydiver, after France, Czechoslovakia and Switzerland. Her name was Smaranda Brăescu and, even though she is almost completely forgotten nowadays, she was a star from the late ’20s until the end of World War 2 in both USA and Europe for being the undisputable world champion and member of the White Squadron. 5. Queen Marie of Romania’s Sapphire is the largest sapphire ever sold at auction. Queen Marie of Romania’s Sapphire sold for $1,494,480 at the Christie’s November 2003 Auction. (source 1, 2)
